Elizabeth is the 5/1 favourite name for Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s first child, according to William Hill. On Saturday, the royal gave birth to her little girl, who is the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild and 11th in line to the throne.
“We opened up with Florence at 9/2, but there has been a real move for Princess Beatrice to name her baby girl after the Queen, and Elizabeth is now a red-hot favourite,” said William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams.
”Florence has eased out to 6/1, while Elizabeth’s price has dropped from 10/1 to 5/1 in the last 24 hours.
“Arabella, who is 11/2 from 13/2, has also received some help.”
The choice would be a lovely tribute to Beatrice’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and would undoubtedly delight royal fans.
Beatrice has Elizabeth as one of her middle names already.
“We all know Elizabeth and/or Philippa is in there somewhere,” @Wolfiegirl99 said on Twitter. “The rest is up to you.”
“I’m thinking Sarah will be in there somewhere,” another user, @JTB 30, predicted Beatrice’s daughter would be named after her mother, the Duchess of York: “I’m thinking Sarah will be in there somewhere.”
“Alexandrina Elizabeth Philippa,” suggested another Twitter user, @clarescastle.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry named their daughter Lilibet after the monarch’s childhood nickname earlier this year.
Elizabeth is 7/1 to have Beatrice’s royal baby, according to Ladbrokes.
Arabella is currently the bookmakers’ favourite moniker at 3/1, followed by Matilda at 4/1 and Florence at 9/2.
“Punters are convinced Beatrice and Edo’s little girl will have an Italian inspired name, and the money suggests it’ll be baby Arabella,” Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said.
On Monday, Buckingham Palace announced the birth of Beatrice’s daughter.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London,” the palace said in a statement.
“The baby is 6 pounds and 2 ounces.
“The grandparents and great-grandparents of the new baby have all been informed and are overjoyed.
“The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire hospital staff for their excellent care.”
“Her Royal Highness and her child are doing well, and the couple is looking forward to introducing their daughter to Christopher Woolf, her older brother.”
Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s young son “Wolfie” is already Beatrice’s stepson from his previous relationship with ex-fiancee Dara Huang.
Princess Eugenie, her younger sister, gave birth to a son, August, in February.
The sisters will be overjoyed to have their children so close in age and to share their first-time mothering experience.
In July 2020, Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi married in a secret lockdown ceremony.
According to reports, the Princess has already left the hospital with her newborn.
