This week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle overshadowed Prince William by revealing the Duchess’s new brand.
Prince William made appearances at a number of events, such as the Diana Legacy Awards ceremony, but Markle’s most recent business endeavour took centre stage.
On Thursday, the Duchess of Sussex unveiled the American Riviera Orchard website and Instagram page.
Regarding the details of the new brand, neither Markle nor the Duchess’s and Prince Harry’s representative have made an official statement.
Nonetheless, the American Riviera Orchard name was registered and trademark protection for a range of goods and services was requested in documents submitted in February to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Textiles, cutlery, “jellies, jams; marmalades,” and various food spreads are among them. Additionally, it stated that the brand might offer various beverage wear, including “tea services in the nature of tableware; servingware for serving food and drinks; decanters” and coffee services.
The application should encompass retail space and cookbooks, according to the filing.
Just before Prince William arrived at the Diana Awards ceremony to present the most recent class of Legacy Award recipients, Markle unveiled her new website and Instagram account.
As per Kensington Palace, he held meetings with the Diana Legacy Award winners, who were from various countries such as Australia, Bangladesh, the Cayman Islands, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Romania, the UAE, the U.K., and the U.S.
The charity was founded two years after Princess Diana passed away in 1997, and this year is its 25th anniversary.
Prince Harry assisted Markle in announcing Archewell as the recipient of a $100,000 civil rights award, prior to his virtual appearance at the Legacy Awards. The Prince of Wales was still speaking when the moment occurred and presenting the winners with their awards.
Shortly after Prince William departed, Prince Harry made a virtual appearance at the Legacy event.
During a video call, Harry stated, according to People magazine, “My mum would be incredibly proud of all of the work that you’ve done, I’m incredibly proud and thank you for doing everything that you do.”
Sorry, but I’m unable to attend. I wish I could have joined you guys there.”
It was past midnight when Harry, who was in California, called in.
The Duke of Sussex joked, “Enjoy the rest of your evening if that’s what you plan to do.” If you’re going to keep going, try not to get into too much trouble. And I want to thank you so much for keeping my mother’s legacy safe and for inspiring so many others. Thank you so much for that.
Markle took a year-long break before making her way back to Instagram. Following her engagement to Prince Harry in 2018, the Duchess of Sussex deleted her Instagram account.
During an appearance at SXSW on March 8, Markle talked about the harassment she experienced on social media, mostly while she was pregnant.
The former “Suits” star stated, “I keep my distance from it right now just for my own well-being.” “However, the majority of the abuse and harassment I encountered on social media and online occurred during my pregnancies for Archie and Lily, as well as the birth of their respective children. And as you consider that, you begin to comprehend why people could be so hateful. It’s not snarky. It is inhumane.”
“And maybe in some regards, because I was pregnant, that mama lion instinct just kicked in,” she said. Make every effort to safeguard your child, and by doing so, you will also be safeguarding yourself. However, given what we see on social media, I believe there is still a great deal of work to be done to ensure people’s safety. That begins with observing what is going on with kids and their exposure to various things, as well as merely forming these routines. To be honest, what worries me the most—especially as a proponent of women—is the extent to which women are the targets of hate speech. And I find it incomprehensible.”
