Prince Harry just returned from a quick trip to the UK, where he attended the Wellchild Awards and paid respects to his late grandmother, the Queen. On Saturday, he will open the 2023 Invictus Games in Dusseldorf.

The Duke of Sussex was spotted leaving Düsseldorf International Airport, getting into a car, and being driven to his hotel, according to images acquired by MailOnline. His car was being videotaped by onlookers as it pulled into the underground parking lot. Harry is said to have departed Windsor and gone straight to the airport, where he boarded a flight operated by British Airways.

Without his wife, Meghan Markle, who is currently back in the US with their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the Duke made his arrival. During the Games, the Duchess of Sussex will travel by plane to be with her spouse.

Harry went back to the UK on Wednesday in order to attend the Wellchild Awards, which he is the royal patron of, on Thursday. The awards honour the remarkable accomplishments and tenacity of children and their families with complex medical needs.

“WellChild has been transforming the lives of children and young people across the UK, providing critical care that prioritises the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of these individuals and their families,” the royal said ahead of this year’s awards.

Due to the death of his grandmother, the Queen, Harry was unable to attend the 2022 Oscars; nevertheless, he honoured her in a speech during the event. He said, “As you know, my grandmother passed away last year, so I was unable to attend the awards.”

“She would have been the first to insist that I continue to come be with you all rather than going to her, as you also probably know. For that reason, I know that exactly one year later, she is looking down on all of us tonight, happy that we are together, and continuing to highlight such an amazing community.”

“As a father of two – and three dogs, so basically five – I’m acutely aware of the many joys and challenges that come with parenting,” he continued, making reference to his family who had returned to Los Angeles. And that pertains to children who do not have any health issues. I thus sincerely admire and respect all of the parent carers in this room.”

We are aware that additional royal family members visited the chapel on Friday morning in private to pay their respects.
