The British monarch revealed he was 'utterly horrified' by the Hawaiian wildfires

King Charles interrupts Scottish holiday to send letter to President Joe Biden: ‘We send our deepest possible sympathy’

According to a recent letter written to President Joe Biden, King Charles has been “utterly horrified” by the Hawaiian wildfires.

The King and Queen Camilla expressed their “deepest possible sympathy” to the families of those who have perished in the fires on the island of Maui in a letter to the President while on vacation in Scotland.

The letter stated, “My wife and I were completely horrified to learn of the catastrophic wildfires currently burning in Maui, Hawaii.” “The extent of the destruction engulfing the island and the heartbreaking anguish of those whose livelihoods have been so disastrously affected are both beyond our capacity to fully comprehend.

“However insufficient it may be, we both wanted to express our sincere condolences to the families of those who have tragically lost their lives. We also wanted to express that our prayers continue to be with all of those whose loved ones are still missing and whose homes have been destroyed.

The damage from Maui’s fires

My particular thoughts are with the incredibly brave emergency responders and Maui residents who are lending their support and assistance as the recovery effort continues.

The strong winds that hit the island after a passing hurricane came dangerously close to land combined with the dry summer to cause the blazes to start earlier this week.

Celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, who owns 1,000 acres of land in Maui and spends most of the year there, have expressed their support for the island and its citizens. She gave out shampoo, diapers, and pillows to people in need when she was seen earlier in the week at an evacuation point.

Also sending their “sincere and heartfelt prayers for Maui, the Hawaiian community, residents, families, and animals affected by these unprecedented wildfires” were Pierce Brosnan, 70, and his wife Keely, 59, who own a home on the island of Kauai.

Keely posted on Instagram, “If you are able, please think about giving to the Hawaii / Maui Community Foundation to help those in need.”

We are devastated and heartbroken for our friends and ‘ohana on Maui who have been affected by the recent wildfires, said Honolulu-born actor Jason Momoa, who plays Aquaman.Links to charities are provided in our bio.
