George was the late Queen's first great-grandson

Prince George’s birth was first revealed to Queen Elizabeth II in the most unexpected way

Prince George celebrated his tenth birthday on Saturday, but did you know the unexpected way his late great-grandmother – then reigning Queen – found out at the time?

According to royal protocol, Prince William would have called Queen Elizabeth II right after Princess Catherine gave birth on a phone that was specially encrypted to deliver the news. The current monarch is always the first to receive notice as per royal custom.

Before the public was informed, William would have called Princess Catherine’s family after calling his grandmother to share the good news about George’s birth.

When the little Prince was born in 2013, the Queen would have been involved in more royal protocol than just the Mission Impossible-style method of communication.

The former monarch would also have had to have given her approval for the name of the then-newborn because George is a direct heir to the throne. The children are frequently given three or four names, all of which required royal approval. Prince George’s full name is Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, according to his birth certificate.

This year, the Royal Family’s official social media accounts celebrated George’s special day with an amazing new photo, and he looked so mature in it.

The young Prince had such a sweet relationship with his great-grandmother

Photographer Millie Pilkington captured the adorable image of Prince George earlier this month while he was sitting on the steps of Windsor Castle and beaming. In the celebratory photograph, the young royal was an exact replica of his father, which was further emphasized by his attire.

George was dressed similarly to William over the years, in a crisp blue and white checkered shirt, teal jeans, and brown shoes. Fans couldn’t wait to comment on the significant occasion and noted how much the young royal resembled both his late great-grandmother and father.
