Among the distinguished visitors in the Royal Box at Wimbledon on Sunday were the Prince and Princess of Wales. The royal couple watched the thrilling five-set match between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz in the Men’s Singles Final with their two oldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Prior to the thrilling match, Catherine stopped by with Prince William and they chatted with other fans, including King Felipe, James Norton, Imogen Poots, Rachel Weisz, and Daniel Craig.
In one conversation with Happy Valley actor James, Princess Catherine seemed to be very star-struck. Many people who follow the royal family on social media commented on Catherine’s moment of fangirling after spotting Prince William staring at them from behind.
One message read: “The Princess of Wales is all of us if meeting James Norton… [fire emoji],” while another message read: “The way Will is keeping an eye on his missus meeting James Norton.” Third post: “William forgot he was talking to actress Rachel Weisz while Catherine, Princess of Wales, met actor James Norton today.”
Every year, tennis enthusiast Catherine, who serves as the Lawn Tennis Association’s patron, attends the competition.
The Princess of Wales, 41, recalled waiting in line for the renowned tennis tournament with her father Michael Middleton and sister Pippa during a brief conversation with former US Open champion Emma Raducanu between watching matches during an earlier appearance at Wimbledon.
She assured the tennis star that “We would be there at the crack of dawn, perhaps not overnight.” Catherine participated with young students in training sessions and activities for the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative back in January 2018. The pregnant royal admitted she missed playing tennis at the time. Prince Louis was her unborn child.
I was very athletic when I was younger, but now that I have many children, I’m not as active as I once was. I love tennis, and I think it’s a great sport. “But keep going; everyone here today has been saying how great it is to be active. It has been a real pleasure getting to know you all.
