Following the disappointing Emmy nominations for her explosive Netflix docuseries with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle broke cover on Friday to visit her neighborhood farmer’s market.
Exclusive DailyMail.com photos reveal that the Duchess of Sussex visited the Montecito Farmer’s Market nearby the couple’s $14.7 million mansion without her husband.
Despite the market’s prohibition on dogs, the 41-year-old was instead accompanied by her security detail and one of her cherished pet beagles.
The former actress browsed different collections of goods as she moved from tent to tent while wearing a white, unbuttoned collared shirt over a camel-colored maxi dress, black flip flops, and sunglasses.
She selected a bouquet of fresh flowers and placed it for later use in a sizable woven straw tote while she finished her shopping.
She also took a break to buy some honey from a vendor at one point.
While Meghan mostly avoided being noticed during her visit to the market, she was friendly and smiled formally at the few locals who did recognize her, all the while her security kept a close eye on her.
The duchess walked around the market while the large bodyguard kept a safe distance between them and watched over her dog.
Guy, who Meghan adopted in 2015 while she was still acting, and Mamma Mia, who they rescued from an animal testing facility last summer, are the couple’s two beagles.
They also own a Labrador Retriever named Pula.
The former royal wasn’t the only well-known person in the star-studded seaside town’s farmers market, though.
Father of Katy Perry and Santa Barbara-raised pastor Keith Hudson was also spotted shopping with the crowds.
According to the website, the farmer’s market is held every week in the neighborhood, rotating along four sections of the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Coast Village Road in Montecito’s main shopping district.
The wealthy coastal community’s idyllic surroundings and secluded homes—perfect for those who value privacy—have made it more and more popular among Hollywood celebrities over time.
Meghan’s public appearance comes after the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, which had a successful debut in December, was passed over by Emmy voters when nominations were announced earlier this week.
On Wednesday, the program did succeed in receiving a Hollywood Critics Award nomination for Best Streaming Nonfiction.
In recent weeks, after a string of setbacks to their media empire, Meghan and Harry have been spotted out and about in their Montecito neighborhood.
Prior to the Fourth of July holiday, the couple was photographed in Santa Barbara holding hands and grinning earlier this month. They were then photographed again at a Fourth of July parade nearby with their family.
The outing followed Buckingham Palace’s announcement that the two had, as requested by King Charles III earlier this year, formally left Frogmore Cottage.
Along with cutting ties with the couple, Spotify decided not to release a second season of Meghan’s 13-episode podcast Archetypes, which debuted at the top of the streaming service’s charts.
In a joint statement, Spotify and Archewell Audio, the audio production company for the Sussexes, said they had “mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.”
