It has come to light that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were beaming during their first outing in public following their eviction from Frogmore Cottage.
In Santa Barbara, California, on Friday, Harry and Meghan were seen leaving an office building while holding hands, grinning, and laughing.
It is unknown what establishment the two were visiting in the complex, which also houses the Self Enquiry Life Fellowship, a group that promotes higher yoga and Himalayan meditation, a karate studio, a hair salon, a pilates studio, and a pilates studio.
The couple, who were accompanied by an unidentified man assumed to be a member of their security detail, were seen for the first time since leaving the cottage at King Charles III’s request.
Their last remaining presence in the UK was the cottage, which they renovated and is owned by the Crown Estate.
Just days after Harry disparaged his family in his book Spare, the King ordered them out of Frogmore, which they had renovated for £2.4 million but had only occupied for six months.
When Meghan and Harry left the office building and made their way to their car, they seemed to be having a great time.
For the outing, the Duchess wore a straw fedora, large dark sunglasses, flat sandals, a crisp white button-down shirt, and brown canvas shorts.
Harry emerged from the building wearing blue pants, a polo shirt, a baseball cap, and sunglasses.
In spite of their recent eviction and apparent misfortune in the entertainment industry, the couple appeared to be sharing a joke and laughing.
One day before the couple’s trip to Santa Barbara, Buckingham Palace announced that they had finally left Frogmore.
In January, the Sussexes were instructed to remove any remaining possessions from their five-bedroom, Grade II-listed cottage close to Windsor Castle.
Just days after Harry disparaged his family in his book Spare, the King ordered them out of Frogmore, which they had renovated for £2.4 million but had only occupied for six months.
The couple’s last remaining residence in the UK before moving to California was the cottage, a Crown Estate property that they renovated.
They leave as some of the foremost constitutional experts in Britain dispute rumors that Harry’s removal will also result in his reduction in status to Counsellor of State.
Harry does not currently serve as a working member of the Royal Family, so he would not actually act in the role.
The eviction also occurs after Spotify last month decided against launching a second season of Meghan’s 13-episode podcast Archetypes, which debuted at the top of the streaming service’s charts.
In a joint statement, Spotify and Archewell Audio, the audio production company for the Sussexes, said they had “mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.”
However, Bill Simmons, Spotify’s Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetization, denounced the duo in a podcast episode, calling them “the f***ing grifters.” We ought to have started that podcast with them.
“I need to get wasted one night and tell Harry about the Zoom I had with him in an effort to assist him with a podcast idea.” One of my best stories is this one.
Following the couple’s £18 million partnership with Spotify and the termination of Archetypes, Netflix has also stated that it is unlikely to extend its agreement with the Sussexes after it expires in 2025.
