The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were pictured for the first time since Buckingham Palace announced that they had left Frogmore Cottage, and they were both beaming.
Prince Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, could be seen holding hands as they left an office building in Santa Barbara, California, according to photos published by MailOnline.
The Duchess wore a white shirt with brown tailored shorts and tan sandals, and she looked effortlessly stylish. A cream fedora hat, sunglasses, and stacks of gold bracelets served as her accessories.
The Duke, meanwhile, was dressed in a teal polo shirt, blue jeans, sunglasses, and a baseball cap with “California” embroidered on it.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex first appeared the day after Sir Michael Stevens, Keeper of the Privy Purse, announced that they had left Frogmore Cottage. The Duke and Duchess have reimbursed the Sovereign Grant for the costs associated with the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, leaving the Crown with a significantly improved asset.
Before Harry and Meghan moved in ahead of the birth of Prince Archie in May 2019, the Grade-II listed property underwent £2.4 million in renovations to transform it from separate apartments into a four-bedroom house.
The Sussexes, however, remained in Windsor for six months before making their decision to resign as senior royals and relocating to the US public. They had maintained Frogmore Cottage as their base while in the UK until now.
Later, the Sussexes leased Frogmore Cottage for “several years” in exchange for paying back the cost of the renovations.
However, it is said that they were asked to leave in January of this year after the release of Prince Harry’s candid memoir Spare, which exposed details of his tumultuous relationship with his father, King Charles, his stepmother, Queen Camilla, and older brother, the Prince of Wales.
In July 2020, Harry and Meghan moved into their first home together in Montecito. Princess Lilibet, the couple’s daughter, was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in June 2021, but she turned one at Frogmore Cottage last summer when the Sussexes traveled to the UK to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
Harry and Meghan signed contracts with Spotify and Netflix after resigning from the royal life, and their docuseries was made available on the latter platform in December.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Spotify agreement, however, was officially terminated last month after Meghan’s hosted podcast’s second season was not renewed.
Spotify and Archewell Audio, the couple’s content creation label, both released statements confirming the split.
The podcast Archetypes was hosted by Meghan, and it ran for 12 episodes starting in August 2022, discussing the history of stereotypes that have been applied to women.
Tennis star Serena Williams, singer Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton, and actors Mindy Kaling and Constance Wu were among the guests.
