The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have officially left the house, according to a report this week from Sir Michael Stevens, Keeper of the Privy Purse: “We can confirm that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have vacated Frogmore Cottage. The Duke and Duchess have reimbursed the Sovereign Grant for the costs associated with the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, leaving the Crown with a significantly improved asset.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex packed their bags at the Windsor residence, but it was back in 2020 when they moved the majority of their belongings out of the house. This bittersweet moment was captured on camera while they were filming for their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan.

As she and Harry selected priceless photos from their personal collection, the Duchess said, “It really gave us a chance to look back at our whole love story.”

The house naturally held a lot of magical memories since it was also where they raised their son Archie for the first time. They had imagined their future with Archie running around the garden and swimming in the Queen’s pond, Prince Harry said, adding that it was “very sad.”

In the Netflix documentary, happier moments at home were also shown, including Archie taking a bath and the couple unwinding in their rustic kitchen.

The Sussexes spent £2.4 million converting Frogmore Cottage into a four-bedroom house with a nursery before relocating there.

The installation of a “eco-boiler,” which provides limitless hot water and low-carbon heat, was one of Harry and Meghan’s extensive renovations, according to The Sun. The expensive technology, which is thought to have cost up to £50,000, would have had to be given up by the royals.
