Why Archie won’t attend King Charles’s coronation on his birthday

It has not yet been confirmed whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend the coronation of King Charles III on May 6.

See what Prince Harry had to say about it in the video that follows from his ITV interview with Tom Bradby.

The Sussex family, along with their kids Archie and Lilibet, flew to the UK in June to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee festivities.

Can we anticipate Archie and Lilibet joining Harry and Meghan at the coronation?

While it seems unlikely that we will see the young boy at the coronation, it may be due to a reason other than his birthday. Archie is set to turn four on May 6. The service falls on a very special day for the Sussexes.

Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth II’s young daughter, was deemed too young to attend the Westminster Abbey ceremony in 1953 because she was only two years old.

Prince Charles attended his mother’s coronation, and even though he was only four years old at the time, it’s likely that the only reason he was permitted to go was because he was the heir to the throne.

Archie and Lilibet, the sixth and seventh children of Harry and Meghan, are not expected to become full-time working royals in the future, especially since the Duke and Duchess retired from royal duties in March 2020.

Even if their parents attend the coronation, it is unlikely that royal fans will see Archie and Lilibet there since they did not appear in public during the Platinum Jubilee festivities.

When Lilibet turned one last year, it fell on the same day as the Platinum Jubilee. Harry and Meghan revealed in their Netflix documentary that they celebrated Lilibet’s birthday in the garden of their Frogmore Cottage home in the UK.
