Princess Kate makes hilarious Valentine’s Day quip regarding Prince William’s gift

The Princess of Wales joked that Prince William was unlikely to buy her flowers for Valentine’s Day while she was accompanied by her husband to the launch of her Early Years campaign.

The joke was made by Catherine, 41, during a tour of Leeds’ Kirkgate Market on Tuesday to commemorate the launch of her ground-breaking project, Shaping Us, which aims to increase awareness of a child’s first five years of life.

Given that Valentine’s Day is only a fortnight away, Neil Ashcroft, a florist, welcomed Catherine to his shop and complimented her on his flower arrangement. He then asked: “William will be buying you some roses?” and then sneakily gave her a deal on the flowers.

He gave her a bouquet of hyacinths, which he claimed were her favorite flowers, and then said, “I suggested William will be buying her roses and she said, “I don’t think he will do,”” adding that he wouldn’t be able to buy her any roses.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who were married at the time, had to spend their first Valentine’s Day apart in 2012.

William was working as an RAF search and rescue pilot when he was sent to the Falkland Islands for six weeks. And that meant he would miss the yearly vacation with his wife of ten months.

But Catherine revealed when she went out for solo engagements in Liverpool that William had made sure to treat her on the day.

When a young boy apologized to the Duchess for William missing Valentine’s Day with her, Catherine responded: “Janson, do you know where he is?

“He sent me a card this morning even though he’s in the Falkland Islands.”

At the time, Jaqson’s mother also disclosed that the Duchess claimed to have received a bouquet of flowers from her husband in addition to a card.

This April, William and Catherine will commemorate their 12th wedding anniversary. They are the parents of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The Princess said in a video message to promote the Shaping Us campaign: “The early years of our lives, or the period between conception and age five, fundamentally influence the rest of our lives.

“But as a society, we now devote a lot more of our time and effort to retirement.

“The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood is launching a new initiative today called Shaping Us in an effort to spread awareness of the potentially life-changing effects of creating a nurturing and supportive environment for kids and those who look after them.

Because we can significantly improve the physical and mental health and happiness of future generations by concentrating our time, energy, and resources on these crucial preventative years.
