More than 20 years have passed since the tragic death of Prince William and Prince Harry’s mother.
William revealed that he and his wife, Princess Catherine, frequently talk to their children about their “Granny” in their speeches about the significance of keeping Princess Diana’s memory alive.
The couple decided to honor the late Princess by giving Princess Charlotte the middle name Diana when their daughter was born in 2015.
Additionally, Diana’s family, particularly Charles Spencer and his youngest child, have a sweet connection to her name.
Seven kids are raised by Charles. Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp, Lady Kitty, Lady Eliza, and Lady Amelia were born during his first marriage to Victoria Lockwood. He wed Caroline Freud, his second wife, in December 2011; they share two children, The Hon. Edmund Spencer and Lady Lara.
The 58-year-old married Canadian philanthropist Karen Gordon in 2011, and the couple welcomed Lady Charlotte Diana Spencer as their first child in July 2012.
In the meantime, Princess Charlotte was born on May 2, 2015. In a charming nod to both her grandmother and great grandmother, the Queen, her full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
It’s interesting to note that Charlotte is also regarded as the female diminutive of Charles, which is the name of both Lady Charlotte’s father, Charles Spencer, and William’s father, the King.
In 2021, to commemorate Mother’s Day in the UK, William and Catherine gave a touching explanation of how they pay tribute to the late Princess Diana.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis made three homemade cards for their deceased grandmother, which were displayed in a post on the Kensington Royal Instagram account.
Charlotte added colorful hearts, stickers, and a sweet note explaining that her father was missing his mother to her pink card.
“Greetings, Granny Diana On Mother’s Day, I have you on my mind. You have my undying love “wrote the young princess. “You are missed by Papa. Many blessings, Charlotte.”
In his card, Prince George also included a message that read: “Greetings, Granny Diana Happy Mother’s Day, everyone. I deeply love you and constantly think of you. George is sending his love to you.”
Meanwhile, young Louis painted a heart of love for his grandmother and decorated his card with stickers in addition to writing his name.
