Prince Harry’s emotional moment with Meghan hours after Lilibet was born

In his memoir, Prince Harry describes the tender moment he shared with Meghan Markle as they welcomed Lilibet, their second child. The Duke of Sussex recalled the memorable day in his memoir, Spare, describing how the couple enjoyed burgers and fajitas while dancing around the hospital room during the early stages of labor.

Harry declared he wanted to be the first person his daughter saw when the doctor informed them Lilibet would arrive in a few minutes.

I cradled her for a brief moment, trying to smile at her and see her, but truthfully, I couldn’t see anything, the man wrote.

He said he questioned whether she was scared and that he wanted to reassure her that everything would be okay. I’ll protect you.

It didn’t take them long to pack up their new addition and head home, eager to begin a new chapter in their lives.

In those early hours as a family of four, Harry remembered one particularly memorable moment he shared with Meghan.

He stated that Meghan said: “I’ve never been more in love with you than in that moment” when they were doing skin-to-skin with Lili.

Harry, not sure if he should believe her, merely retorted, “Really?”

After that, it is claimed that the Duchess of Sussex confirmed her suspicions by repeating his words to him.

The couple kept Lilibet’s birth information private, with the majority of the information remaining a mystery until Harry revealed it in his own words in his book.

The couple did, however, issue a brief statement outlining their excitement.

“We were fortunate to have Lili, our daughter, arrive on June 4,” they said.

“She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we are still grateful for the worldwide support and prayers we have received.

“We are grateful for your continued generosity and assistance during this very important period for our family.”

“Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world,” read an official statement from Archwell at the time.

“Lili was born on June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in Santa Barbara, California, under the able supervision of the medical professionals there.

She was 7 pounds, 11 ounces. Mother and child are both in good health and are adjusting to life at home.

“Lili is named after Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet, who was her great-grandmother. Her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales, was honored by giving her the middle name Diana.

“This is the couple’s second child; they already have a son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who is two years old.

“As they enjoy this special time together as a family, the Duke and Duchess thank you for your kind wishes and prayers.”
