Following revelations in his memoir, Spare, Prince Harry’s relationship with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, appears to be tense, but it wasn’t always like this.
In a recently discovered video from 2003, Prince William, Prince Harry, and King Charles converse amicably after a game of polo, with King Charles and the Prince of Wales gently making fun of Harry’s post-polo snack selection.
The three men can be seen talking about how they thought the game went in the video, which was shot in Anglesey, North Wales. William says, “I was trying to avoid being hit by so many sticks,” and Harry, who was about 19 at the time, adds, “I almost fell off my horse trying to get you the ball and you missed it!” before calling his brother a “spoon.”
Harry uses the slang word “spoon” to make fun of his older brother, which puzzles their father.
Did you say spoon? King Charles inquires, and Harry responds, “It isn’t a swear word.”
The Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales both enjoyed playing polo, according to Harry’s close friend Nacho Figueras, with whom he plays on a professional team in California, who also noted that both men are accomplished players.
In 2016, Nacho remarked to HELLO!, “They love the game of polo so it’s always fun to be around them.”
“Their grandmother had a deep love and admiration for horses. They both play the piano, as do their father and grandfather. They are excellent riders “Added he.
