The Duke of Sussex and Prince William’s relationship is currently strained, but Prince Harry revealed in his interview with Tom Bradby that the two had a fleeting moment together at the funeral of their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September.
Harry said, “Just recently my brother and I were walking the same route, and we sort of joked to each other and said, “At least we know the way,” after describing how surreal Princess Diana’s funeral was while he and William followed their mother’s casket from Kensington Palace to Westminster Abbey in September 1997.
But aside from that, it was very comparable. The intensity of the emotions was the only distinction. because our grandmother’s life was over. I believe there was more of a celebration, respect, and acknowledgment of what she had accomplished. Our mother, however, was taken from us much too young.
When they learned of the Queen’s passing, Harry and his wife, Meghan, were already in the UK performing engagements with charities near and dear to their hearts.
Sadly, the Duke did not arrive in time to be at his grandmother’s bedside. He had started traveling to Balmoral on a charter flight.
In his autobiography Spare, Harry wrote: “As the plane started to descend, my phone lit up. a message from Meg “Call me as soon as you get this,” I said. I looked at the BBC webpage. Grandma had left. Pa was the King.
The Sussexes left their royal responsibilities in 2020 and moved to the US. They now live in Montecito with their kids, Archie and Lilibet.
