When his brother Prince William and wife Kate welcomed their first child, Prince George, in July 2013, Prince Harry reflected on the moment he first became an uncle.

The Duke of Sussex stated in his book Spare: “As an uncle, I was. George, Willy and Kate’s first child, was a stunning young man. I was eager to impart to him my knowledge of Rorke’s Drift, rugby, flying, and corridor cricket, as well as perhaps some advice on how to thrive in a fishbowl.”

Additionally, video taken around the time of George’s birth shows a beaming Harry talking about his first encounter with his newborn nephew.

When he was speaking at a Sentebale event, Harry said: “Prince George was crying when I first saw him, as all babies do, but it’s wonderful to have a new member of the family. I’m hoping my brother is aware of how much my child care expenses will be.”

When the reporter questioned him about his unclely duties, he responded: “to ensure his upbringing is positive, to keep him safe, and to ensure his enjoyment. I’ll leave the rest up to the parents.”

He said this in his book: “I traveled to Australia for a series of military drills and learned that Willy and Kate had welcomed their second child while I was there. Charlotte. I was thrilled to be an uncle once more.”

In addition, Prince Louis, the third child of Prince William and Kate, who was born in April 2018—just a few short weeks before Harry’s nuptials to Meghan Markle—has Harry as an uncle.
