The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a busy year in 2022, but one of their fondest memories will be the birthday celebrations they hosted for their daughter Lilibet Diana. One of our most popular stories of the year was when HELLO! revealed in June, a few days after the birthday party photos were made public, that Lilibet had worn a blue dress by a recently bankrupt California designer.
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shared their first photo of Lili on her birthday, a royal fan recognized the adorable baby blue dress Lili was wearing.
The sweetly styled outfit was from Isabel Garreton and had a subtle blue and white zig-zag as well as a smock on the neckline.
On the other hand, according to what was written on her website, “In the coming month we will be closing Isabel Garreton, Inc., the company I founded over 30 years ago with one goal in mind: to provide a dignified work opportunity to underprivileged women through the development of a finely designed and crafted collection of children’s clothing.”
The statement continued, “The Isabel Garreton brand generated serious interest due to its longevity as a brand, the number and exclusivity of its loyal customers accrued over 30 years, presence in the best stores in the nation, and absence of debt.
Because it is my name and no interested parties persuaded me they would continue the ethical manufacturing approach that has defined who we are, we decided against selling the brand despite entertaining offers.
Part of the reason the business was started was to “support the advancement of underprivileged women” and to “help break the cycle of poverty.”
To commemorate their daughter’s first birthday, Harry and Meghan shared a brand-new photo of her on Monday, June 6, 2022. The photo was taken at her birthday party in London during the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The child was dressed in a blue dress and had a white bow in her hair when the photo was taken. Like her father Harry and older brother Archie, she has gorgeous ginger hair.
Misan Harriman, a close family friend and guest who attended a laid-back, private backyard picnic at Frogmore Cottage for Lilibet’s special day, took the photo.

On his personal Instagram page, Misan posted a different image of Meghan, Lili, his wife, and their two children all grinning broadly.
He captioned the picture as follows: “It was such an honor to share Lilibet’s first birthday with both my family and hers! Face painting and joy are everywhere.”
A special cake was made for Lilibet by East London’s Violet Bakery’s Claire Ptak, who also made the wedding cake for The Duke and Duchess in 2018.
