What did their late mother Princess Diana think of the pair? Prince Harry and Prince William appear to have a strained relationship right now, with Harry’s explosive Netflix documentary putting the royal family in the spotlight.
When asked about Prince William’s personality in an ITN interview, the late Princess of Wales frankly compared his actions to those of her youngest son, Prince Harry.
In the 1985 video, interviewer Alastair Burnet questioned, “Do you find already that Prince William has a will of his own?”
In response, Diana said: “Well he certainly does, he’s a typical three-year-old, I work with three-year-olds, he’s very enthusiastic about things, pushes himself right into it, he’s not at all shy.”
“Where else perhaps Harry is more quiet and just watches, whether he copies William we wait and see but he’s a different character altogether.” – the Princess continued.
Before her tragic passing, the devoted mother and her two sons had a close relationship, and they both previously gushed about what a wonderful mother she was.
Harry claimed that Diana was “one of the naughtiest parents” in an ITV documentary.
He said: “She was fun through and through. One of her mottos to me was – ‘You can be as naughty as you want, just don’t get caught.’ She would come and watch us play football and, you know, smuggle sweets into our socks.”
As seen in the explosive docuseries starring Harry and Meghan, Archie’s nursery when he was small contained a touching photo of the late Princess of Wales.
In a video, Meghan was holding Archie while displaying the framed portrait of his late grandmother. “Who’s that?” the Duchess could be heard asking Archie, adding, “That’s your grandma Diana.”
The royal couple did decide to include a variety of family moments over the first three episodes of their personal docuseries, despite largely keeping their kids out of the spotlight.
