The Prince and Princess of Wales’s children have a new playmate after two of their parents’ closest friends welcomed a baby boy.
It has been confirmed that Thomas van Straubenzee’s wife, Lucy, gave birth to a son named Albert on December 3 in The Telegraph’s announcements.
Thomas and Lucy are firmly ensconced in William and Catherine’s inner circle.
Thomas and his wife Lucy were teachers at Princess Charlotte and Prince George’s old school, Thomas’s Battersea, and Thomas read a joint best man speech at William and Catherine’s wedding.
They got hitched in Chelsea during lockdown in 2020, and they already have a daughter named Mary who is two years old.
Since they were students at Ludgrove School, Thomas, a Knight Frank real estate agent, has known Prince William and Prince Harry.
In January 2020, Thomas and Lucy were photographed attending church with William and Catherine in Norfolk.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Princess Eugenie, and Jack Brooksbank were among the guests at the wedding of Thomas’ younger brother, Charlie, to Daisy Jenks in 2018.
Henry, the brother of Thomas and Charlie, tragically perished in a car accident in 2002. The royals were very supportive at the time and ended up supporting a memorial fund established in his honor. At the annual Henry Van Straubenzee Christmas Carol Concert, it was discovered earlier this month that William and Harry had put their signatures on a letter that was a part of the order of service.
When Thomas was robbed in 2011 while on the phone with Harry, who came to his aid with a police bodyguard, Thomas’ friendship with the Queen’s grandsons made headline news.
The van Straubenzee family also had a close friendship with Princess Diana. In addition to spending time with them on vacation in Cornwall when William and Harry were younger, she briefly served as nanny to Thomas’ cousin.
