King Charles’s secret party revealed – with Princess Kate and Prince William on guest list

This week, a very special celebration was held at Windsor Castle with a party hosted by King Charles.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, Sophie Wessex, and other members of the monarch’s close family attended a royal reception at the landmark location with the monarch.

It was held in June , to honor the effort that went into her Platinum Jubilee celebrations just three months before the late Queen’s passing.

The Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy, attended the evening reception as well.

It follows significant changes to the royal family made by the King. He decided to appoint Princess Anne and Prince Edward as counsellors of state, allowing them to perform official duties in the monarch’s place.

The Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William, Prince of Wales, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Princess Beatrice are the current advisors.

Charles has chosen to increase the number of eligible royals, though, as Andrew and Harry are no longer working royals.

When the monarch is away or ill, counselors must step in.

Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, and Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, were named as additional replacements in the King’s formal request for the change, which was read to the House of Lords on Monday.

This will mean changes to the Regency Act, which currently states that counsellors must be the monarch’s spouse and the next four over-21 royals in line for the throne.

According to a statement from King Charles: “To ensure continued efficiency of public business when I’m unavailable, such as while I’m undertaking official duties overseas, I confirm that I would be most content should Parliament see fit for the number of people who can be called upon to act as Counsellors of State under the terms of the Regency acts 1937 to 1963 to be increased to include my sister and brother, the Princess Royal and the Earl of Wessex and Forfar. Both of whom have previously undertaken this role.”
