In the most recent episode of Meghan Markle’s Archetypes podcast, The Audacity of the Activist with Jameela Jamil and Shohreh Aghdashloo, the wife of Prince Harry revealed a surprising fact about her kids’ fondness for a specific food.
Meghan mentioned how American comedian Ilana Glazer practices “feminism tucked under the layers” in her work during a soundbite on the ways in which women serve up activism. Meghan slipped in a personal detail that provided listeners with a glimpse into her life at home with Archie, three, and Lilibet Diana, one, while discussing how the figure of speech “hide the vegetables” is used to disguise everything from politics to food.
You’re not aware of the food’s nutritional value, Meghan said. The Duchess interrupted, “Thankfully my kids love vegetables,” and then continued.
It only makes sense that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to Meghan’s children’s diets given that she is well-known for living a healthy, balanced lifestyle and hailed Los Angeles as the holy grail of health food in her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig.
The Sussex kids are growing up in Montecito, Santa Barbara’s sun-drenched coastal community, where health-conscious locals are renowned for filling their bodies with organic local food and ultra-healthy restaurants.
Daniel Martin, a friend of Meghan’s who works as a makeup artist, said to Gayle King before Archie and Lilibet were born: “The infant will undoubtedly be raised in a clean and environmentally friendly manner. Clean and natural for the infant. She enjoys cooking. whenever she can, she eats organic.”
Daniel added that Meghan, a foodie, is probably not going to feed Archie any pre-made baby food. He said, “Oh, I totally see her making her own baby food.”
However, Archie and Lilibet’s love of vegetables differs significantly from a young Prince Harry’s eating habits. Former royal chef Darren McGrady previously admitted that in order to get young William and Harry to eat their vegetables, he had to disguise them.
Although Princess Diana reportedly had a more unbiased view of eating, the young princes were reportedly encouraged to eat their greens when dining at the palace. Taking the boys to McDonald’s would frequently shock the palace chefs.
