This Christmas, the Princess of Wales will host a second carol concert at Westminster Abbey, serving up yet another festive TV treat.
In a segment shot before the touching ceremony, Catherine surprised viewers by playing the grand piano for singer Tom Walker.
The annual carol service, which will be held on December 15th, will honor the memory of the late Queen Elizabeth II as well as the “selfless efforts” of individuals and groups throughout the UK.
The Princess will attend the special event, which will be televised on ITV on Christmas Eve, along with members of the royal family.
The Westminster Abbey Choir, a renowned ensemble, will sing carols as part of the program, which will also feature musical performances and readings from special guests.
In announcing the service, Kensington Palace noted that it would honor the “selfless efforts” of individuals and groups throughout the UK and would draw attention to “the remarkable impact that banding together to support one another can have for us all.”
It added: “The service this year will also honor Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the moral principles—such as empathy, compassion, and support for others—that she upheld throughout her life. The inspiring visitors who have been invited to the Abbey from all over the UK in recognition of their tireless efforts to help and care for those around them embody and share these values.”
Guests will include frontline workers, members of the armed forces, and grassroots community volunteers who have been chosen by Lord-Lieutenants from across the UK. Others will stand in for royal family-related charities, including a few of the late Queen’s supporters.
People working on some of the causes dear to Catherine’s heart, such as early childhood and mental health, as well as those who may be more vulnerable or isolated and may encounter difficulties during the winter, will also be present in the congregation.
