Meghan Markle reveals weekend plans with mum Doria Ragland

During her most recent Archetypes podcast episode, Good Wife/Bad Wife, Good Mom/Bad Mom, the Duchess of Sussex revealed a unique glimpse into her weekend plans—and mom Doria is involved!

On the episode, the 66-year-old social worker abruptly interrupted Meghan on FaceTime. The mother-daughter pair engaged in a warm conversation about their weekend plans.

I’m okay. I’m hanging in there. It’s okay. I’m recording right now. Can I call you back in a bit?” Meghan said in response to Doria’s “Hey! How’s my girl?” question.

As they parted ways, Doria exclaimed, “I love you, too. I’ll see you on Saturday.”

A significant figure in Meghan and Harry’s lives is the Duchess of Sussex’s mother, who frequently steps in to help with the care of Archie, three, and infant Lilibet, one.

Doria’s residence in View Park-Windsor Hills, Los Angeles, is conveniently located two hours from Meghan’s opulent Montecito mansion. While Doria has plenty of room in Meghan and Harry’s main residence, the couple also has a separate two-bedroom guesthouse that serves as the ideal lodging for Meghan’s mother when she travels.

The involved grandmother reportedly spent close to $5.5k on grandparenting classes to get ready for the arrival of her grandchildren.

Meghan later reflected on Doria’s crucial function and said, “It got me thinking about all the ways my mom supported me, how she took care of me and the house and herself… and how she just juggled so much.”

And in May of this year, Doria was crucial in assisting her daughter in adjusting to motherhood. The devoted grandmother temporarily left her California home and took a flight to London to be with her nine-months-pregnant daughter.

While she was in the UK, the yoga instructor even hired a house and pet sitter so she could help Meghan in Windsor for a full month.

Following a confession about her time on the US version of Deal or No Deal, Meghan had an illuminating episode. The former Suits actress reminisced about her time on the show as the “briefcase girl” in an interview with fashion influencer Paris Hilton.

According to Meghan, there was a “very predetermined idea” of how the briefcase girls should appear, and it was “solely about beauty and not necessarily about brains.”

The 41-year-old discussed the toxic beauty standards of the show while describing how she received vouchers for spray tans every week and once received the advice to “suck it in” from the show’s producer.

Meghan continued, “I ultimately left the show because, as I said, I was grateful for the opportunity but not for how it made me feel, which was foolish.
