When the Duke of Sussex finally revealed the release date for his memoir on Thursday, fans couldn’t help but notice – and comment – on the significance of the date chosen for its publication.
Prince Harry’s book, SPARE, will be released on 10 January, just one day after the Princess of Wales’ 41st birthday.

Since many royals are still on vacation the first week of the new year is usually quiet on the royal front. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, the three children of the Wales’, aren’t expected to start school again until the 11th of January, so the royal couple is unlikely to be spotted out in public until after their kids resume their classes in the New Year.
Last year, the first royal outing took place on 10 January, when the Duchess of Gloucester attended the Regents’ Court of Benefactors Inaugural Ceremony and Dinner at the Royal Academy of Music. A day later, the Countess of Wessex undertook engagements in Doha, Qatar, having flown in the day before.
Prince William held an investiture at Windsor Castle on behalf of the Queen on January 12 when the Cambridges, as they were then known, returned to their royal responsibilities.

The royal family will undoubtedly be affected by Harry’s memoir. SPARE will, according to Penguin Random House “immediately transport readers to one of the most horrific images of the 20th century: two young boys, two Princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world looked on in sorrow—and horror. Many people wondered what the Princes must have been thinking and feeling as Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, as well as how their lives would proceed after that.”
For Harry, this is his story at last, the press release for the upcoming book stated.
SPARE is a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief with its raw, unflinching honesty, according to the press release.
