King Charles has a very special wish for his granddaughter Princess Charlotte

The arrival of Princess Charlotte, the second of King Charles’ five adoring grandchildren, prompted the sweetest statement from the royal.

At the time, Charles was giving a tour of Poundbury, a model town development in the Dorset region close to Dorchester. He also expressed his very special wish for Charlotte while he was there.

She is lovely, he said. I wanted a granddaughter so that I would have someone to take care of me when I am very old.

It’s obvious how happy the King is to be a grandfather. The Queen Consort, his wife, previously shared her impressions of Charles as a grandfather, and he comes across as the best!

During an appearance on the BBC documentary Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, Camilla said, “He will get down on his knees and crawl around with them for hours, you know, making funny noises and laughing.”

Ten grandchildren and stepgrandchildren total between Charles, 73, and Camilla, 75. Camilla has five grandchildren: Lola and Freddie Parker Bowles (children of Tom Parker Bowles), Eliza Lopes, and twins Gus and Louis Lopes (children of Laura Lopes). Meanwhile King Charles has five grandchildren: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet.

Camilla continued: “My grandchildren absolutely adore him”.

She then added: “He can read Harry Potter in all the different voices, and I think kids really appreciate that”.

A “brilliant” grandfather, according to Prince William, who also made an appearance on Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, though he wished he could spend more time with his grandchildren.

When asked if he has time to be a grandfather, the Prince responded, “It’s something I’m working more heavily on, put it that way. I think he does have time for it, but I would like him to have more time with the children.

“I believe he’s… It’s the ideal time to consolidate a little bit now that he is 70 years old because, like most families, you are concerned about keeping them around and ensuring their health. Although he is the fittest man I know, I want him to stay that way until he is 95.”

“Therefore, spending more time at home with him and being able to play with the grandchildren would be wonderful. Because he is brilliant when he is present. But he is absolutely necessary for us to have there.”
