As a result of the passing of her husband Prince Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, the Duchess of Sussex spent a large portion of her visit to the UK wearing mourning attire.
New images, however, taken just a few days before Her Majesty passed away, show Meghan donning a stylish camel coordinated outfit. The royal participated in a private roundtable discussion on September 5 that was focused on advancing gender equality and inclusion. It was moderated by Irish author Sinéad Burke and took place just before the royal gave a keynote address at the One Young World Summit in Manchester.
Meghan appeared in pictures taken by Misan Harriman with speakers Swara Patel, founder of The Period Society, who discussed the effects of period poverty, and Shilpa Yalagadda, founder of Pink Coconuts, who discussed her strategy for promoting women-owned businesses.
Meghan chose a knitted, short-sleeved top with a collar and accessorized with camel-colored, high-waisted belted pants and heels.
She wore her hair in a sleek ponytail and accessorized with gold bracelets and chunky hoops to draw attention to her flawless complexion. Harry complemented his dapper appearance with a black suit, white open-collared shirt, and suede shoes.
This was the Duchess’ first public appearance in the UK since the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June, and her business-chic attire was a notable departure from the one she was photographed wearing for the summit that evening.
Meghan caught eyes in a striking red ensemble from AnotherTomorrow for the poignant event, which unites young leaders from more than 190 nations. It was composed of a silk blouse that exuded effortless elegance and a pair of sleek high-waisted pants.
Meghan enhanced her monochromatic look with a pair of vibrant red court shoes from the brand Aquazzura, which is a favorite among celebrities. Her elegant updo and jewelry appeared to be the same as when she first appeared that day.
The Queen tragically passed away “peacefully” at Balmoral just two days later, with Harry’s father King Charles III and aunt Princess Anne by her side. The wife and mother-of-two stood by her husband in the days that followed, and on September 19, they both went to the monarch’s funeral.
In a black cape dress by Stella McCartney and a hat designed by Stephen Jones for Dior—the same look she wore in June to honor the Queen’s Jubilee—Meghan looked sophisticated yet somber.
