The Duchess of Sussex, who has always loved animals, formed a special bond with the corgis that belonged to the late monarch.
The Suits actress opened up about her relationship with the Queen and her cherished furry friends in a resurfaced clip from Meghan and Harry’s engagement interview with the BBC in 2017.
Regarding her meeting with the president, Meghan stated: “It’s amazing to get to know [the Queen] through his eyes because of his love and affection for his grandmother as well as his respect and awe for her as the reigning monarch.
“When I first met her, I had a profound understanding of all those layers, and I had a great deal of respect for being able to spend that time with her. She is a remarkable lady.”
Prince Harry interrupted and hurried to emphasize how well-matched his wife is with the corgis of the Queen. “And the corgis immediately warmed up to you. I’ve been growled at for the past 33 years, but this dog walks in with no barking at all—just wagging its tail “He bragged.
Additionally, it appears that Meghan is quite skilled at caring for dogs. The Duchess added an adopted beagle named Mamma Mia to her dog family back in August.
The seven-year-old rescue dog lives with Guy, another beagle, and Pula, a black Labrador, at their Montecito, California home. Federal authorities reportedly saved Mamma Mia and 4,000 other beagles in Virginia in July.
The Beagle Freedom Project’s Shannon Keith, an animal rights lawyer, told the LA Times: “The duchess personally called me.
Hey Shannon, this is Meghan, she says when she calls my cell phone and there is no Caller ID. Shannon recalled that she initially believed she was speaking to actress Megan Fox during their 30-minute conversation.
Animal-lover Over the past few years, Meghan has adopted several rescue dogs, and when she married Harry, she brought Guy, an American rescue beagle, to the UK. She had to leave Bogart, a Labrador-shepherd mix, behind when she moved to England to be with Harry.
