The death of their grandmother brought together the Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales during one of their most trying times.
The royal brothers’ relationship has recently been reported to be somewhat strained as a result of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to leave the royal family and move to the United States in 2020.
Prince Harry and Prince William, however, have delighted royal admirers by putting on a public show of unity over the past two weeks.
Gayle King, a friend of Meghan’s and a broadcaster, said that an effort to mend their rift “came from both sides” while speaking live from the state funeral on Monday.
There have been attempts on both sides to try and make this right, she told CBS Mornings. Large families are notorious for their drama and turmoil.
What will happen will remain to be seen: will they be drawn apart or closer together? I have no idea and no inside knowledge about that, but I will say this:
It was good to see Harry standing with his family.”
Prince Harry and Meghan met up with the Prince and Princess of Wales two days after the Queen passed away. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined William and Kate in visiting Windsor Castle to see floral tributes left by the public, putting their differences aside.
The procession of the Queen’s casket from Buckingham Palace to Westminster brought the royal brothers together. In contrast to the funeral for the Duke of Edinburgh, where their cousin Peter Phillips crossed in front of them, they were standing side by side.
Following the committal service, the royal family gathered outside Windsor Castle where Prince Harry later joined them.
Along with his father, the Duke of Gloucester, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence, Prince William, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, the Duke of Kent, and Prince Edward, the Duke took a moment to reflect.
