Princess Charlotte’s tears at Queen’s funeral explained

Following rumors that the seven-year-old had started crying after the funeral service for the Queen on Monday at Westminster Abbey, a photo of Princess Charlotte taken after the event went viral.

The young royal was photographed holding her hands up to her eyes while standing in Wellington Arch with her mother, the Princess of Wales, and her brother, Prince George.

The princess may have been wiping something from her eyes or protecting them from the sun, which can be seen reflecting off her back in a series of photos taken after the ceremony, rather than crying after all.

In fact, seven-year-old Charlotte shows great bravery in video footage taken at Wellington Arch. She even imparts some knowledge to her older brother, George, by telling him to bow as their great-coffin grandmother’s passes them.

Charlotte can be heard saying to George in the video: “You need to bow,” as George appears to be paying close attention to what his sister is saying. The two were seen speaking as they waited for the coffin to be loaded onto the royal hearse.

The two Cambridge children marched in the funeral procession at Westminster Abbey alongside their parents. In a last-minute change, the siblings entered the service walking side-by-side between their parents. Initially, the two were supposed to go before their uncle and aunt, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and go after their parents.

Prince Louis, their younger brother, was absent from the historic event though and was probably deemed too young to go.

Princess Kate said last week that “the children are doing well and they are being looked after at school” in response to a question about how her children were adjusting after losing their great-grandmother while performing in front of large crowds at Sandringham.
