Princes William and Harry lead somber vigil by Queen’s coffin

The Queen’s family was her pride and joy, and since her passing on September 8 they have been honoring the monarch.

Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, Lady Louise Windsor, and James, Viscount Severn, her eight grandchildren, stood guard over her coffin on Saturday in a heartfelt vigil. Their vigil came after their parents’, which was held on Friday for 15 minutes.

King Charles had given Harry permission to wear his military uniform, so William and Harry were doing so. Along with the garter sash, the garter star, and medals from the Golden, Diamond, and Platinum Jubilees in addition to RAF Pilot Wings, William wore the blues and royals No. 1 Uniform.

With the KCVO neck order and star, Afghanistan operational service medal, medals from the Golden, Diamond, and Platinum Jubilees, along with Army Pilot Wings, Harry arrived in blues and royals and No. 1 Uniform.

The other royals wore clothes that were darker in color.

Prince Harry was not involved in the decision to change the law. The husband and father of two was prepared to follow his grandmother’s instructions and don the outfit of her choice.

At the top was the Prince of Wales, and at the bottom was the Duke of Sussex. Zara Tindall and Peter Philips, William’s cousins, stood to either side of him, while Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie stood to either side of Harry.

As her kids took their seats, Sophie Wessex stood in the audience and appeared emotional.

Princess Kate and Meghan Markle stayed at home, so their spouses weren’t present at the vigil for the royal grandchildren.

Many other members of the royal family stood in the gallery on Friday while King Charles and his sibling kept vigil.

While Peter also had daughters Savannah and Isla with him, Zara had brought her young daughters Mia and Lena.

Prior to that, Prince Edward, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne, and Charles had stood watch over their mother’s casket as it lay in St. Giles’ Cathedral on Monday.

The Queen Consort and the Countess of Wessex sat on seats opposite the coffin as a show of support during the ten-minute vigil held by the Queen’s four children, which took place between 7:46 and 7:56 p.m.
