As they approached the coffin, Meghan Markle and Princess Kate both curtsied, with Meghan giving her grandmother-in-law one of her final deep curtsies. Men typically greet each other with a neck bow, and royal ladies typically curtsy if they are meeting the monarch for the first time that day.

The Duchess was holding hands with Prince Harry before she curtsied, but they parted ways as she paid tribute to the late monarch.

When Meghan recalled her first encounter with the monarch at The Royal Lodge in Windsor, she mentioned how surprised she was to learn that she needed to quickly master the art of curtsying.
She recalled, “Right in front of the house we practiced and ran in.” “Do you know how to curtsy, Fergie yelled as she ran out. I don’t recall doing a particularly deep curtsy, but after that we sat and talked.”

Cameras captured the moment Meghan curtsied to the Queen for the first time in public during her first Christmas with the royal family in December 2017, even though that particular meeting was private.
She has since curtsied for Her Majesty numerous times, today’s being among the most meaningful.
