A day after it was initially scheduled to be released, Prince Harry and Meghan paid a heartfelt homage to Her Majesty the Queen. The statement from the couple was supposed to be released on Sunday, the day after the Prince of Wales’, but it wasn’t until Monday morning that it was made available on their website, Archwell.
Why then was the message delayed by an additional day? It is believed that this memorial service was timed according to protocol and was extended by a day to honor the anniversary of September 11th.

In his letter, Prince Harry said, “We are all reminded of the guiding compass she was to so many in her commitment to service and duty in celebrating the life of my grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen—and in mourning her loss. She was revered and admired everywhere. Throughout her life and as her lasting legacy, her unfailing grace and dignity remained true. Let’s repeat what she said after her husband, Prince Philip, passed away because those words can comfort all of us at this time: “Life, of course, consists of final partings as well as first meetings.”

“Granny, even though our final separation makes us very sad, I will always be grateful for all of our first encounters, from my earliest childhood memories with you to the first time I met you as my Commander-in-Chief to the first time you hugged your cherished great-grandchildren. I treasure the times we have spent together as well as all the other wonderful times we have had. Not just by us, but by everyone in the entire world, you are already sorely missed. We now honor my father in his new role as King Charles III when it comes to first encounters.

Visiting the UK at the same time the Queen passed away, Prince Harry and Meghan have said they will remain there until the Queen’s funeral. The two met up again with the Prince and Princess of Wales for a weekend appearance in Windsor.
Harry and Meghan were personally invited by Prince William. The warring brothers William and Harry were first spotted together at the statue’s unveiling last July. The four of them greeted onlookers before viewing the flowers purchased by Her Majesty at Buckingham Palace.
