Buckingham Palace shared a sweet photo of the two of them after the Duke of Sussex made an emotional statement about losing his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The grandfather and grandson were seen laughing in the black-and-white photo, which was posted on Instagram on Monday. They had just attended Lady Gabriella Windsor’s wedding to Thomas Kingston at St. George’s Chapel in May 2019.

Prince Harry’s statement, in which he honored the Queen as his “guiding compass,” was posted alongside the old photo. He said, “We are all reminded of the guiding compass she was to so many in her commitment to service and duty in celebrating the life of my grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, and in mourning her loss.
“Her unwavering grace and dignity remained true throughout her life and now her everlasting legacy, and she was universally admired and respected.

“Let’s repeat what she said after her husband, Prince Philip, passed away because those words can comfort all of us at this time: “Life, of course, consists of final partings as well as first meetings.”
“While we are very sad to say goodbye, Granny, I will always be grateful for all of our first encounters, from the time I first remember you as my grandmother to the first time I met you as my commander-in-chief to the first time you hugged your cherished great-grandchildren.
“I treasure the times we have spent together as well as all the other wonderful times we have had. Not just by us, but by everyone in the entire world, you are already sorely missed. We now honor my father in his new role as King Charles III when it comes to first encounters.

“We, too, smile knowing that you and Grandpa are reunited now, both together in peace,” the woman said. “Thank you for your commitment to service. Thank you for your sound advice.
