The Duke of Sussex mentioned his young son during the virtual appearance and shared the endearing name that he gave him.

“I’m just unbelievably fortunate and grateful to have outdoor space and see my son be able to be outside, because I know so many people just haven’t had that opportunity the last five months,” Prince Harry said when discussing spending time outside with his toddler during the coronavirus pandemic.

He continued, “Our little man is our number one priority, but then our work comes in second,” referring to Archie as his and Meghan’s “little man.”

Archie’s name is also frequently shortened to “Arch” by Prince Harry and Meghan, a former Suits cast member, as they coo over the red-haired infant.

Most recently, a rare video honoring the royal baby’s first birthday showed Meghan and Archie together.

The Duchess of Sussex is seen reading a book to Archie in the video, and Prince Harry can be heard encouraging him from behind the camera.

In the video, Meghan can be heard saying, “Let’s turn to the next page, look Arch.”

When baby Archie was introduced to Archbishop Desmond Tutu in South Africa, the parents used his abbreviated name, saying, “You’re going to meet Arch, Arch.”

Prince Philip reportedly refers to the Queen as “cabbage” in the royal family, and the Sussexes aren’t exempt from the practice. Meghan revealed last year that she calls Prince Harry “H” in the documentary about their tour of southern Africa, and it’s been suggested that Meghan frequently goes by Meg.

The royal couple gave their one-year-old son Archie a new moniker this week. A touching video of the Duchess reading Archie one of his favorite books, Duck! Rabbit! by Amy Krouse Rosenthal, was shared by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in honor of their son Archie’s first birthday yesterday.

The video was posted on the Save With Stories Instagram account, a project of the organization Save the Children, which helps underprivileged children.

Given that Archie’s name and the Sussexes’ upcoming charity, Archewell, are both derived from the Greek word “Arche,” which means “source of action,” the nickname is appropriate.

Archie may go by other names besides Arch, though.

Previously, Meghan was overheard referring to her only child as “Bubba” while on the royal tour of South Africa in the fall.

The Duchess can be heard calling Archie “bubba” in video of Archie meeting Archbishop Desmond Tutu. In additional video of their tea with Tutu, she also used the nickname.

In this video, the Duchess greets Archie by saying, “Say hello, hello,” before exclaiming, “Oh, bubba!”
