Lilibet Diana’s first birthday was celebrated with a royal cake.
Lilibet’s big day was June 4 in Windsor during the celebrations of her great-Platinum grandmother’s Jubilee, and Violet Cakes Bakery in London shared a photo of the custom pink floral creation for her big day on Friday.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended the Jubilee to honor the Queen’s 70 years on the throne with both of their children, Lilibet and her 3-year-old brother Archie. It was Lili’s first trip to the United Kingdom and her first meeting with Queen Elizabeth, who is 96 years old. Lilibet was the Queen’s childhood nickname, so the 1-year-old is named after her.

“The inside was the Amalfi lemon and elderflower cake I created for the Duke and Duchess’s wedding in 2018, but this time we covered it with a strawberry buttercream specially for Lilibet,” Violet Cakes owner and baker Claire Ptak wrote on Instagram Friday.
Ptak can be seen in another post putting the finishing touches on the cake and captioning the photo, “Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of making this special cake for Lilibet’s birthday. I wish her a very happy new year!”
During their Jubilee stay, the couple kept a low public profile, attending only one public event — the Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral on June 3 — their first official royal appearance since stepping down from senior royal duties in 2020. They also played a behind-the-scenes role at Trooping the Colour, the Queen’s official birthday celebration.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex hosted a “casual, intimate backyard picnic” at their Frogmore Cottage home on June 4, according to a spokesperson for the couple who released a photo to commemorate Lili’s birthday. (Lili’s red hair, which she inherited from her father, is visible in this candid photo!)
Members of the royal family also paid tribute to Lili on social media, with Queen Elizabeth, Prince William, and Kate Middleton’s official accounts, as well as Prince Charles and Camilla’s, posting birthday greetings to Lili.
The couple’s spokesperson previously stated that Harry and Meghan “remain incredibly touched by the countless birthday wishes for their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.”
