The Queen, who is 96 years old, is pictured with her heirs, Prince Charles, Prince William, and great-grandchild Prince George, as well as future consorts the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge.

The appearance of the royal family was a historic moment for the Queen because it revealed the core members of the royal family who are shaping the monarchy’s future. Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, Prince William and Kate’s two younger children, were also present.

The Queen publicly endorsed the Duchess of Cornwall to be Queen consort when Prince Charles takes the throne in February. Her Majesty renewed her 1947 pledge “that my life will always be devoted to your service” in a touching message to mark the 70th anniversary of her own accession, but urged the public to support her son and heir and his wife when her remarkable reign comes to an end.

“I am eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection that you continue to show me,” the monarch said.

The Queen updated her Twitter’s header picture with this lovely family shot

“And I know you will give my son Charles and his wife Camilla the same support you have given me when the time comes; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”

When her husband became King, Camilla was expected to be styled Princess Consort, a decision announced when the couple married in 2005.
