Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the United Kingdom this week, accompanied by their two children, Archie and Lilibet. The couple was among the royals who attended a celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and her 70 years on the throne on Thursday.
Meghan, 40, was photographed at Horse Guards Parade talking to Savannah Phillips and Mia Tindall from inside the Major General’s Office, according to pictures obtained by MailOnline.
As they watched the parade, Prince Harry and Meghan were seen playingfully telling some royal children, including Isla Phillips and Lena Tindall, to be quiet. The couple were celebrating Her Majesty’s official birthday at the traditional Trooping the Colour event.
While Harry and Meghan were seen watching the procession from inside Buckingham Palace, they were not seen on the iconic balcony. They watched Prince Charles inspect the guardsmen and officers and take their salute from a prime vantage point with members of the monarchy from the Duke of Wellington’s former office, which overlooks Horse Guards Parade.
Meghan looked stunning in an off-the-shoulder bodycon dress with wrap detailing and an off-the-shoulder neckline. Capped sleeves and a chic midi length were featured on the stunning frock, which came in a stylish navy hue.
She wore elegant drop earrings and a large, wide-brimmed white hat by British milliner Stephen Jones with an oversized bow. Meghan wore her raven hair down one side in voluminous curls.
The Sussexes are also expected to attend St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday for a service of thanksgiving for the Queen’s 70-year reign, but their participation in Trooping is a bonus.
This is the first visit to the UK by Harry and Meghan’s family since they left for the United States in 2020. The Duke had previously stated that he wished to return to his homeland but that he did not feel safe doing so due to his lack of security.
The trip will undoubtedly be extra special for Prince Harry and Meghan because it will be Lilibet’s first encounter with the Queen and the royals. Her first birthday is coming up on Saturday, so she’ll be getting some extra attention.
The Sussexes finally shared the first photograph of Lilibet with the release of their 2021 Christmas card, which also marks the first time the world gets a proper glimpse of Lili, as she is known.
Alexi Lubomirski, their wedding photographer, captured the sweet family photo in the summer at the couple’s Montecito home.
The family is photographed on some steps, with Archie, two, sitting on Harry’s lap and Meghan lifting Lilibet into the air.
The message on the card was as follows: “Best wishes for the holidays. Lilibet, our daughter, was born this year, in the year 2021. Archie and Lili gave us a ‘Mama’ and a ‘Papa,’ and we became a family.”
