Meghan Markle paid a visit to Uvalde, Texas, where she presented 10-year-old Uziyah Garcia with a bouquet of white roses tied with a purple ribbon at the cross.
Meghan made the unannounced trip to pay her condolences and support the local community, according to a spokesperson for the mom-of-two who spoke to HELLO!
Meghan was photographed at a makeshift memorial outside the Uvalde County Courthouse, not far from Robb Elementary School, where an 18-year-old gunman killed 19 children and two teachers.
Meghan was dressed casually in a white T-shirt and blue jeans, with a baseball cap over her head. Alberto Alvarez, the head of her security team, joined her. She is said to have ignored calls from reporters on the ground, instead standing and kneeling in contemplation.
The attack killed 19 children, all of whom were believed to be in the same classroom.
Both teachers at the school, Eva Mireles and Irma Garcia, died.
Six victims remained hospitalized as of Thursday, including the gunman’s grandmother, who is in critical condition after the gunman shot her in the face prior to the attack.
The horrific attack shocked the world, prompting many to call for stricter gun control laws in the United States.

Selena Gomez, who is from Texas, wrote a heartfelt and sad social media post as well.
“Today, 18 innocent students were killed in my home state of Texas while simply trying to get an education,” she wrote ahead of the revised figure. “A teacher was killed while doing her job, which is both important and underappreciated. Where do children feel safe if they aren’t safe at school?”
