Prince Harry: New confusion over his ‘tell-all’ memoir

When Penguin Random House announced that Prince Harry’s “intimate and heartfelt memoir” would be released last year, there was a lot of excitement.

“Not as the prince I was born, but as the man I have become,” Prince Harry wrote.

The publishers said at the time that they had “tentatively scheduled” its release for late 2022. However, there is now some uncertainty as to when the memoir will be released.

A spokesperson for Penguin Random House confirmed that the book does not yet have a publication date – and would not confirm whether or not the book would still be released this year, according to The Times’ royal editor, Roya Nikkhah.

The memoir is said to have fetched the Prince, 37, a multimillion-pound advance. He’s thought to be working on it with JR Moehringer, an American ghostwriter who worked on Andre Agassi’s autobiography. The “proceeds” are said to be going to charity, according to Harry.

While the reason for the delay is unknown, there were some concerns that it would overshadow the Queen’s upcoming Platinum Jubilee celebrations, which are no longer an issue.

Given that the Sussexes will be reunited with the royal family for the first time in more than two years, the celebrations may now also be included in the memoir.

“I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story — the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned — I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think,” Harry said previously about his “accurate and wholly truthful” memoir.

It comes amid reports that Toya Holness, Harry and Meghan’s global press secretary, has left the couple. She was appointed to the position in March last year after joining the couple’s public relations team in October 2020.

Even though the book will be an authorized biography, I want to hear about Harry directly from Harry.
