Prince Harry and the Queen have always had a close relationship, and while he recently expressed his concern for his grandmother, this has clearly been the case for a long time.
When a throwback photo surfaced of the couple’s special bond – and how Harry has long done his best to look after Her Majesty – royal fans were moved.
A young Prince Harry walks with his grandmother and great-grandmother, the late Queen Mother, in a photo shared online by fan account Sussex Daily.
Harry is holding an open umbrella, but instead of using it to protect himself, he holds it up to keep his older relatives dry – despite the fact that they are wearing hats and he isn’t!
The photo’s caption read, “#PrinceHarry has always been that person,” and commenters rushed to express their admiration for the father-of-two.
“This is the sweetest thing ever,” one of them said. “This is the first time I’ve seen this image. What a lovely young man,”
“He has such a caring soul,” and “He is always protecting his grandmother!” When Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stopped in Windsor on their way to the Invictus Games in the Hague last month, they had a long-awaited reunion with the Queen.
A few days later, the 37-year-old told the BBC about the encounter, saying it was “great to see her.”
He said the following about their conversation, which included a discussion of the Olympics: “It was great to see her because she had a lot of messages for Team UK, which I’d already passed on to the majority of them. If she could, I’m sure she’d love to be here.”
It was Harry’s first time seeing the Queen since attending Prince Philip’s funeral last year, and Meghan’s first since the couple moved to the United States after resuming their roles as senior working royals in 2020.
That’s such a sweet photo! It’s very apparent that your grandmother is very special to you just like my maternal grandmother, Bernice, was very important to me. She was my rock and after she died on November 5, 1991, I’ve literally had NO one. However I had, still have, and always will have a friend where it really matters….the big man above so all is good.
I look forward to meeting everyone.
