On Saturday, Prince Louis turned four years old, and new portraits of him, taken by his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, were released to commemorate the occasion.
The youngster looked at ease on the beach during the Easter break, and he appeared to have inherited his parents’ love of sports, as he prepared for a barefoot sprint across the sand in one image and brandished a cricket ball in two others.
Many royal watchers noticed striking similarities between him and his father, Prince William, with a few eagle-eyed royal watchers noticing a resemblance with grandfather Michael Middleton.
One person stated: “In the first photo, he looks exactly like his father! “Happy 4th Birthday, little man,” one person commented, while another added, “Is that Louis or William as a 4 year old???””
“He looks like grandfather Middleton,” said a third, while a fourth added, “Looks so much like his maternal grandfather!” “Congratulations Prince Louis, he has grown so much and is identical to his brother, Prince George, they look like twins!” one wrote, while another added, “Congratulations Prince Louis, he has grown so much and is identical to his brother, Prince George, they look like twins!”
In the photos, the fifth-in-line to the throne was dressed in a sweet checked shirt and shorts, as well as a soft grey sweater with colorful stars on the front, and appeared to be just like any other young boy his age, ready for a seaside adventure.
The stunning beaches of North Norfolk have long been a playground for young royals, with the Queen herself taking her own children there when they were younger while staying at Sandringham to enjoy the fresh sea air.
With Holkham Beach only a half-hour drive from their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk, William and Kate have been frequent visitors with Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, who turns seven on May 2, and Prince Louis, four.
The royal couple shared a glimpse into their idyllic family life last year, releasing a video of themselves and their children climbing the sand dunes there and cuddling up together on the beach as they looked out to sea, toasting marshmallows over a fire, to commemorate their tenth wedding anniversary.
