Meghan Markle dazzled the crowds in the Netherlands on Friday, wearing an amazing white Valentino pantsuit to a special friend and family Invictus Games reception. The Duchess of Sussex removed her long camel coat, which she had previously worn to complete the ensemble, for a very sweet reason.
Meghan and Prince Harry were escorted to the venue by Team Netherlands competitors and their families, one of whom was carrying a newborn, according to royal editor Omid Scobie. However, as the weather became colder during the walk, Meghan kindly removed her coat and handed it to the baby’s mother, who was able to keep her newborn warm. The mother can be seen carrying Meghan’s coat around her little bundle of joy in photos of the couple arriving at the event.
Meghan looked stunning on their first day in the country, wearing a Valentino bag and Aquazzura shoes to complement her stunning suit. The couple appeared to be in high spirits, and Meghan waved to the press pen at one point, and the couple placed their hands on each other’s backs as they greeted people.
They arrived after a surprise visit to the UK, where they met with Harry’s father, Prince Charles, and paid a secret visit to the Queen at Windsor Castle.
The news was confirmed by the Duke and Duchess’ press office, with a spokesperson revealing that the visit took place as the couple traveled to the Hague, Netherlands, for the Invictus Games. It was the couple’s first joint visit to the UK since they stepped down as working royals in 2020.
Meghan is expected to attend the Invictus Games for the first few days, returning home to their Montecito home in California ahead of her husband to care for their children Archie and Lilibet.
Her visit to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands is her first to Europe since leaving her position as a senior working royal in 2020.
The couple is expected to walk the ‘yellow carpet’ at a friends and family reception on Friday evening, and the games will begin on Saturday. As part of filming for a Netflix series called Heart Of Invictus, a film crew is expected to join the couple.
The royal couple has a special connection to the event because it was there that Harry and Meghan chose to make their first public appearance together almost five years ago, at the opening ceremony in Toronto, Canada, on September 24, 2017.
The following day, they competed in a wheelchair tennis tournament hand in hand.
The games were created by Harry to aid in the rehabilitation of injured or sick military personnel and veterans from all over the world by providing them with the opportunity to compete in sporting events similar to the Paralympics.
