“I am deeply moved by the fact that so many community organizations, schools, families, and individuals have contributed to the Green Canopy initiative in their own unique ways. I hope your Jubilee trees continue to thrive and grow for many years to come, so that future generations can enjoy them as well.”

The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative, which spans two official tree-planting seasons, has resulted in the planting of over a million trees in her honor. The first season lasted from October to March, with the final episode airing on Thursday.

The Countess of Wessex, the Queen’s daughter-in-law, commemorated the day by planting an elm tree in Buckingham Palace’s garden. Sophie was accompanied by students from Telford’s Grange Park Primary School.

To commemorate the completion of their QGC RFS Junior Forester Award, the students were presented with special commemorative Jubilee coins from the Royal Mint.

From October 2022 to the end of the Jubilee year, tree planting will resume.
