Many of Princess Diana’s iconic pieces of jewelry have been passed down to her daughters-in-law, who had an unequaled jewelry box throughout her lifetime. Both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have worn sentimental jewelry from their late mother-in-law on multiple occasions, following Diana’s wishes to the letter. The Princess penned a letter before her tragic death “”I would like you to designate all of my jewelry to the portion to be held by my sons, so that their wives may receive it or utilize it in due course,” the letter stated. I’ll leave the exact split of the jewelry up to you.”

The most poignant and exquisite pieces of jewelry Kate inherited from Princess Diana are featured here:

Diamond and South Sea Pearl Earrings

Diana’s favorite pieces of jewelry were these exquisite diamond and pearl earrings. Kate wore the earrings to the BAFTA Awards in London this year.

Sapphire and Diamond Earrings

These earrings were part of a set of gems given to Princess Diana as a wedding gift from Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Fahd. After William proposed to Kate in 2010, he gave her the earrings, which she upgraded into a drop shape. Over the years, they’ve become one of Kate’s hallmark earrings.

Sapphire Engagement Ring

This sapphire engagement ring is perhaps the most renowned piece of jewelry Kate got from Princess Diana. Prince Charles chose the ring for his 1981 proposal to Diana, which was designed by British jeweler Garrard. The ring, which contains a 12-carat oval Ceylon surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds, was given to Kate by Prince William during their engagement in 2010.

Three Stand Pearl Bracelet

Nigel Milne designed this pearl bracelet in 1988, which Princess Diana frequently wore. The bracelet was first worn by Kate on a royal trip to Germany in 2017.

Cambridge Lover’s Knot Tiara

Queen Elizabeth frequently lends her collection of jewelry to other members of the royal family for long periods of time. The Cambridge Lover’s Knot Tiara, which was a favorite of Princess Diana’s back in the day, is an example of this. The garment was not seen again after her death until Kate Middleton wore it in 2015. It’s become one of Kate’s favorite headpieces since then.

Four-String Pearl Choker

The four-string pearl choker, which is also in Queen Elizabeth’s collection, has been worn by Princess Diana and Kate Middleton for important ceremonies. Diana wears the necklace at a state banquet in 1982, while Kate flaunts it at the Queen and Prince Philip’s 70th wedding anniversary party in 2017.

Collingwood Pearl Earrings

Princess Diana received these pearl earrings as a wedding gift from Collingwood jewelers. She first wore them a month before her wedding to Prince Charles, and she continued to do so frequently after that. Kate Middleton initially wore the earrings in 2017 during a state banquet in Spain.
