Remember the photos Prince William and Kate Middleton shared in April 2021 to commemorate their 10-year wedding anniversary? The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, according to the photographer who photographed the British royals, were simply being themselves.
Soon before their wedding anniversary on April 29, 2021, William and Kate released two photos.
William and Kate took to their official social media accounts the day before their 10-year wedding anniversary. They shared two photos taken by photographer Chris Floyd outside their Kensington Palace home just a few days before. “Taken this week, just in time for The Duke and Duchess’ tenth wedding anniversary,” says the caption.
These photos were different from their usual ones in that they showed the royal couple engaging in some PDA. The couple wore blue outfits to match Kate’s engagement ring, which was once owned by Princess Diana, and held each other close.
Photographing William and Kate for their anniversary was’straightforward,’ according to Chris Floyd, because they were ‘just like any married couple.’
Photographer Floyd told UsWeekly that there wasn’t much to taking the 10-year anniversary photos of William and Kate. In his opinion, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were just like any other married couple.
“They were just like any other married couple,” Floyd explained. “They appeared to be just like any other married couple who seemed to enjoy being in each other’s company. It was as simple as that.”
Floyd, a veteran photographer with more than 30 years of experience, went on to say that he didn’t give them much direction. So, in comparison to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement photos, those poses were natural reflections of their relaxed body language.
“I just told them, ‘Look, it’s your tenth anniversary; just be the couple you are with each other and forget about me.’ “And don’t even think about me,” Floyd said he told the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. He went on to say, “They don’t need me to tell them how to be with each other.”
The photographer said he felt like he’d known Kate and William ‘for years’ by the end of the day.
Although William and Kate have appeared in numerous photo shoots, it is unusual for Floyd’s subjects to be British royalty. So, what happened when the photographer went to Kensington Palace to take photos of William and Kate for their wedding anniversary? The parents of three children greeted him with open arms.
Floyd explained, “It was their home, and I was made to feel welcome in their home.” He went on to say that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were pleasant to work with throughout the photo shoot.
“I have to say, I felt like I’d known them for years by the time I left that day.” He recalled, “It was just a whirlwind of a day.” “The day itself was pretty much like any other shoot day.” It was the same as going to someone else’s… I mean, it wasn’t exactly like going to someone else’s house, but it was similar. It was simply a more opulent version of most houses.”
Kate and William also released an anniversary video in which their children, Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3, make appearances.
