Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make important pledge: ‘We can all do better’

As world leaders and senior royals gathered in Glasgow for the COP26 summit, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that their Archewell Foundation will “become net zero by 2030.”

According to an Archewell spokesperson, Prince Harry and Meghan will collaborate with experts to assess the total amount of emissions and devise a strategy to achieve net zero emissions.

According to a statement on its website, the company will assess its overall carbon footprint, which will include internet usage, commutes, and the use of electricity in home offices.

“Our co-founders, Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have a long-standing commitment to the planet, both together and prior to their marriage, with global projects and partnerships dating back over a decade,” the statement read.

“While we have made active choices to offset and balance this carbon footprint, we now know that we can all do better with the tools provided by partner organizations,” it continued. We have the ability to be net zero, and we intend to do so.

“As a young company, Archewell has joined our co-founders in pledging to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, attended events at the COP26 summit in Glasgow, where Harry and Meghan made their pledge.

Prince Charles told delegates on the second day of the United Nations Climate Change Conference that the world has had enough of talking and that “we need to put our words and commitments into practice.”

“It is a source of great pride to me that the leading role my husband played in encouraging people to protect our fragile planet lives on through the work of our eldest son Charles and his eldest son William,” the Queen said in a virtual address on Monday night. I am ecstatic about them.”
