On Friday, Prince William will follow in his wife’s footsteps by participating in a Q+A on the couple’s joint Instagram account about the Earthshot Prize.
On the couple’s social media pages, the Duke of Cambridge has never done anything so personal. In an Instagram Stories post, he announced the news while sitting in an opulent office with some documents labelled ‘Earthshot Prize Q+A.’ He signed off with a ‘W’ and a hand pointing down emoji directed at the question box, captioning the post, “Taking questions on the Earthshot Prize tomorrow.”
Following the results of her ‘5 Big Questions on the Under Fives’ survey, the Duchess of Cambridge took part in an Instagram Q+A session last year.
“I actually get asked this question a lot,” the Duchess said when asked what piqued her interest in the Early Years during the session. I believe that because I am a parent, people assume that I am interested in the Early Years.
“I believe this is much bigger than that.” This isn’t just about happy, healthy kids; it’s about the society I believe we can and should become. From the beginning, I’ve met a lot of people who are struggling with addiction or poor mental health, and I’ve always heard that their problems in adulthood stem from early childhood experiences.”
The Earthshot Prize was inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s ‘Moonshot’ programme in the 1960s, which united millions of people around the goal of reaching the moon. It was launched by the Duke and The Royal Foundation in October 2020.
Over the next ten years, the Earthshot Prize aims to incentivize change and inspire collective action around our unique ability to innovate, solve problems, and ultimately repair our planet.
Protect and restore nature; fix our climate; clean our air; revive our oceans; build a waste-free world are the five ‘Earthshot’ goals. For the next ten years, five £1 million prizes will be awarded each year, with the goal of providing at least 50 solutions to the world’s most pressing environmental issues by 2030.
Despite the fact that this will be the Duke’s first Instagram Q+A session, he still gives interviews, and on Thursday he revealed a sweet detail about his young son, Prince Louis, to BBC Newscast: he enjoys playing in the countryside.
The Prince also stated that his eldest son, Prince George, is aware of how his actions affect the environment, such as not wasting water and turning off light switches.
“He is acutely aware, more so than the other two at the moment,” William explained. Charlotte is still in her early twenties. She is still undecided. Louis, on the other hand, spends the entire time outside playing. He lives on the street.”
We’re encouraged to learn that young George is concerned about environmental issues, and it’s interesting to learn about how Louis spends his days. A child should spend time in the great outdoors because it is a healthy environment for them to be in.
“But I think it’s slowly dawning on them that these things matter,” the father of three continued. But I believe that when you’re that young, all you want to do is have fun and enjoy yourself. I’m sorry; I don’t want to burden them with that worry.”
