Harry and Meghan could make surprise return to UK for Diana event, source says

According to reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are debating whether or not to attend – and bring Archie and Lilibet – the Princess Diana statue unveiling at Kensington Palace later this month. According to reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may make a surprise visit to the UK to attend a party honouring Princess Diana.

The Sussexes are said to be debating whether or not to attend the event later this month at Kensington Palace.

In July, Harry, 37, flew back to the UK with his brother to see the statue dedicated to their late mother unveiled.

Diana’s brother Earl Spencer and sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellows were among the Spencer family members present at the unveiling, but due to Covid-19 restrictions, a reception was postponed.

Travel restrictions from the United States have since been lifted, removing the need for the Sussexes to quarantine upon arrival.

“No one knows what Harry’s decision is,” a source told The Sun, “but there are rumblings that he may come with Meghan and their two children.”

“You would have thought it would be something Harry would really want to be at,” Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, said of the reception.

“I can’t imagine anything being more important to him than respecting his mother.”

The palace has not responded to the rumours, but it is thought that Harry wished to return for the festivities.

The brothers were said to have reached a “unspoken agreement” at the unveiling of the statue in July to put their feud behind them and focus on their late mother.

The possibility of a return comes 16 months after the Sussexes relocated to California, and as Harry works on a memoir due out late next year.

According to publisher Penguin Random House, Harry will share his “adventures, losses, and life lessons” in the book.

Harry stated in his statement that he is “”I’m writing this as the man I’ve become, not as the prince I was born to be.”

“I’ve worn a lot of hats over the years, both literally and metaphorically, and my hope is that by telling my storey — the highs and lows, the mistakes, and the lessons learned — I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think,” he said.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned so far in my life, and I’m looking forward to people reading a firsthand account of my life that is accurate and completely truthful.”
