Kate Middleton in nod to Diana as Duchess shines just like Princess did at Bond premiere

As she walked the red carpet at the world premiere of No Time To Die yesterday, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, appeared to pay tribute to the late Princess Diana.

Kate attended a glitzy night out at the Royal Albert Hall with Prince William, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. The royals were present at the world premiere of the latest and most-awaited 007 film, which stars Daniel Craig as James Bond for the final time.

With her gleaming gold Jenny Packham cape gown, the Duchess dazzled royal watchers and A-listers at the event.

A deep V-neckline, architectural shoulders, and a flowing train characterised the gown.

This bold gown appears to be a nod to Princess Diana’s dress from another Bond premiere.

The late Princess of Wales attended the premiere of A View To Kill in Leicester Square in 1985.

The elegant royal wore a long-sleeved puff shoulder gown for the occasion.

Diana’s gown featured sparkly metallic fabric, a V-neckline, and a train, similar to Kate’s.

The absence of the cape, which allowed Kate’s mother-in-law to show a low-back opening, was the main difference between the Duchess of Cambridge’s Jenny Packham gown and Diana’s Bruce Oldfield look.

This isn’t the first time Kate has made a sweet nod to Princess Diana’s iconic style while out in public.

The Duchess of Cambridge, in particular, channelled Diana when she introduced her two sons to the world.

She wore a baby blue polka dot dress after the birth of Prince George, similar to the one Diana wore on the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s hospital in London after giving birth to Prince William.

When William and Kate welcomed their second child, Louis, she wore a red dress with a wide white collar, which was reminiscent of Princess Diana’s outfit after the birth of Prince Harry.

During a series of engagements, Kate has been seen imitating her mother-in-law.

She wore a cobalt boxy blazer and matching pleated midi skirt to an outing in Scotland in May, accessorised with a brown suede clutch and heels.

During a royal visit in 1992, Princess Diana wore a nearly identical outfit, but with blue pumps instead of brown ones.

During the Cambridges’ tour to Pakistan in October 2019, another clear example of Kate being inspired by the late Princess of Wales in terms of fashion was given.

Kate wore a custom watercolour blue Catherine Walker dress and matching pants to the Pakistani Air Force Base Nur Khan.

When Diana visited Pakistan in 1996, she wore a similar sartorial choice by the same designer.

In September 2019, Kate and William dropped off Prince George and Princess Charlotte at Thomas’s Battersea for their first day of school, drawing yet another parallel between the royals.

Kate wore a pink floral flock similar to the one Diana wore while dropping Prince Harry off at school in 1992.

When it comes to fashion, Kate isn’t the only royal who appears to have been influenced by Princess Diana.

During a royal visit to Birkenhead in 2019, Diana’s second daughter-in-law Meghan Markle echoed the late Princess of Wales’ style.

Then, similar to Diana in 1989 during a visit to Hong Kong, she mixed red and purple.

Meghan also wore a pink off-the-shoulder gown during her first Trooping the Colour parade, which was very similar to Diana’s outfit from 1987.

Meghan is also known for channelling Diana’s style through her accessories, as she did last week in New York with a Dior Lady-D Lite bag, a favourite of Prince Harry’s mother.
